MDA REPORT

What does MDA stand for? (Muscular Dystrophy Association) When the freedom to walk, to talk, to run and play, to laugh, to hug, to eat and to breathe is taken away from kids and adults with muscular dystrophy, ALS and related diseases that weaken muscle strength and limit mobility.

What is our donation used for? Our donation is used to help fund research and services to help kids and adults with muscular dystrophy live longer and grow stronger. With that being said:

Thanks for another great year! We set a new record for money raised for MDA. In 2018, Branch 2184 raised a total of $12,082.17 beating our 2017

total of $12,009.53. There are a few planned MDA events for 2019. The branch has scheduled a Bowl-a -thon, Fill the Satchel and the canister drive event, please plan on attending or volunteering to one or all of the activities planned this year for MDA.

Bowlathon Sets Record!

This year Deliver the Cure with MDA Bowlathon event has set a new record. All pledges and money have been counted and the “Battle of the Branches” has been settled. Once again, Branch 2184 was victorious over our cross town rivals Branch 1.

It was a close contest, but Branch 2184 prevailed, while setting a new record for our Branch in the process. The total raised for the 2019 MDA Bowlathon event was$ 5021.00. Our top 3 stations that raised the most this year were #1 Westland, #2 Taylor and #3 Lincoln Park. Our top 3 MDA donation collectors are Michele Szafran (Taylor), Gilbert Pruiett (Westland) and Paula Hall (Lincoln Park).

A special thanks to the Bowlathon Lane sponsors Jack Demmer Lincoln Dealership, Kristie & Tammy- Plymouth Post Office, Leonard Zawisa & Cathy Tondreau- Dearborn Retired, Dearborn Annex City Carriers, Taylor/Romulus City Carriers, Westland City Carriers and Canton City Carriers.

Thanks to all the Branch officers, stewards and members who came out to support the event and

Fill the Satchel for MDA 2019

On Sunday September 8, our Branch participated in the yearly NALC "Fill the Satchel" drive for the Muscular Dystrophy Association. As in years past both active and retired members hit the streets near the Union office at the intersection of Ecorse

and Monroe. Our volunteers worked the streets and corners from 11:00 am until 4:00 pm filling the satchel for MDA. Full report from the Branch coming soon.
